The central decorative element (Model 1074) is a symmetrical bas-relief featuring a bilateral axis of symmetry. The composition is built upon outward-curving volutes forming spiral scrolls, centered around a vertical axis crowned with a stylized palmette. The relief is formed by smooth surface transitions with deep background recessing that emphasizes the plasticity of the floral motifs. Similar symmetrical scrollwork was actively employed in the decoration of French furniture during the Regency period and early Rococo, designated as 'caprices' in the 18th-century ornament treatises by designers such as Jean-François Oeben.
