"Frame with Parrots" (Model 6002) STL

The decorative oval frame is executed in the Baroque style with elements of Chinoiserie. The central light opening is enclosed in a profiled sight edge, surrounded by a symmetrical plant ornament composed of scrolls, rocaille elements, and large four-petal flowers. The top finial features an elaborate composition of diverging curved scrolls and a central cartouche. The lower section of the frame contains two mirror-oriented figures of crested parrots perched on branches amidst floral motifs. The inclusion of exotic birds in European decorative and applied arts of the 17th and 18th centuries was driven by the fashion for Chinoiserie and Far Eastern exotica, actively promoted by the royal courts of France and England as symbols of status and wealth. The model is intended for framing wall mirrors, paintings, tapestries, portraits, and creating accent interior elements.
