Square frame «Rocale» (model 6236) STL

The square frame «Rocaille» (model 6236) is executed in the Rococo style. The composition is based on a square inner outline surrounded by a flat frieze with a geometric pattern, over which a complex openwork relief is applied. The corner and central sections of the frame are decorated with symmetrical rocailes, volutes, and stylized acanthus leaves, forming fluid contours with protruding plant curls that are asymmetric in details yet balanced in mass. Historically, Rococo style frames became widespread in France during the second quarter of the 18th century under Louis XV, when the interiors of châteaux and townhouses shifted towards intimacy, a departure from Baroque symmetry, and the intensive integration of mirror surfaces to visually expand space.
