In the foreground of the relief, a female figure is depicted from the back, partially covered by a drapery of fabric that follows the contours of the body and extends upward. The background consists of a flattened plane with soft vertical folds of textile merging into the general compositional structure. A frame (baguette) is absent, and the boundaries of the panel are defined by the rectangular edges. In the history of art, the motif of drapery clinging to a nude body (“damp fold” technique) traces back to classical Greek sculpture of the 5th century BC, where this method was employed to reveal anatomical features through the fabric folds.
