The bas-relief composition focuses on a mounted duel between two warriors with pikes located in the foreground. In the background and depth of the space, a mass of regular troops and cavalry units creates a large-scale battle context; the panel is executed in a frameless format with a detailed textured sky. Historically, mounted pike charges were the culminating moment of medieval cavalry engagements, determining the outcome of the battle. Suitable for decorating offices, libraries, and thematic halls.
