The foreground of the relief depicts a semi-nude young woman wearing a traditional wreath, standing chest-deep in water and holding a lit candle. The middle and background feature silhouettes of coastal vegetation, trees, and a night sky with a crescent moon and stars. The composition is executed without a frame (molding), with smooth transitions between the edges of the panel and the background. According to Slavic folklore, water on Kupala Night was believed to possess special healing properties, and fern blossoms were said to appear for a fleeting moment.
