In the Orthodox tradition, the saint is revered as an intercessor protecting against sudden death without repentance, as well as the heavenly patroness of miners, artillerymen, and everyone whose activities involve life-threatening risks. In the iconographic canon, she is traditionally depicted holding a cross, symbolizing her suffering and steadfastness in the Christian confession.
