Venerable Gennady of Kostroma and Lyubimograd lived in the 15th and 16th centuries. He was a disciple and companion of Venerable Cornelius of Kostroma and founded the Spassky Monastery on the Obnora River. The saint was renowned for his strict asceticism, unceasing prayer, and spiritual guidance. Iconographic depictions traditionally present him in monastic vestments with a blessing right hand and a scroll in his left hand, symbolizing divine teachings. The faithful pray before this image for spiritual peace, strengthening of faith, healing from illnesses, and the protection of their homes.
