Icon "Holy Great Martyr Barbara" (Model 872) STL

Saint Great Martyr Barbara, who lived at the turn of the 3rd and 4th centuries during the persecution under Emperor Maximian, is revered as a major Christian intercessor. According to tradition, as the daughter of a pagan nobleman, she secretly converted to Christianity, endured severe torments, and was ultimately executed by her own father. Iconography traditionally depicts her holding a cross as a symbol of faith triumphing over suffering. In Orthodox practice, believers pray before this image for protection against sudden and violent death, for the grace of repentance before the end of life, and for healing from severe illnesses.
