Saint Martyr Julia of Carthage (Corsica) is a 5th-century Christian saint who suffered for her faith during times of persecution. According to her hagiography, she was a native of Carthage who was captured but preserved the purity of her Christian convictions and refused to participate in pagan rituals, for which she accepted a martyr's death. In iconography, the saint is traditionally depicted holding a cross, symbolizing her steadfastness, suffering feat, and victory over death. Believers pray to the image of Saint Julia for strength in mental and physical trials, the granting of patience in sorrows, and protection from ill-wishers.
