Icon "Holy Tatyana" (Model 937) STL

The Holy Martyr Tatiana of Rome lived in the 3rd century during a period of severe persecution of Christians under Emperor Alexander Severus. Coming from a noble Roman family, she dedicated her life to the Church as a deaconess and openly confessed her faith, enduring severe torture and martyrdom around 226 AD. In iconography, the saint is traditionally depicted holding a martyrdom cross in her right hand, symbolizing her steadfastness and the triumph of faith over death. Orthodox believers pray to Saint Tatiana for spiritual strength during trials, and she is also venerated as the patroness of students, as her feast day coincides with the historical foundation of Moscow University.
