Blessed Matrona of Moscow (Matrona Nikonova, 1881–1952) is one of the most venerated Russian saints of the 20th century. Born blind and enduring physical infirmities throughout her life, she was granted by God the gift of spiritual sight, healing, and comforting the afflicted. The iconography often incorporates architectural motifs of Moscow churches, emphasizing her earthly ministry and intercession for the faithful. Believers pray before this icon for healing from grave illnesses, family well-being, resolution of daily hardships, and spiritual guidance in times of sorrow.
