The Holy Righteous Prince Peter and Princess Fevronia of Murom lived at the turn of the 12th and 13th centuries, embodying the Christian ideal of marriage, fidelity, and mutual devotion. According to the Tale of Peter and Fevronia, written in the 16th century by the monk Hermolaceus-Erasmus, they overcame numerous trials, remained faithful to each other, and took monastic vows with the names David and Euphrosyne, passing away on the same day and hour.
