Saint Spyridon of Trimythous, who lived at the turn of the 3rd and 4th centuries, is revered in the Christian world as a great wonderworker and defender of the Orthodox faith. Being a simple shepherd, he was chosen as Bishop of Trimythous in Cyprus for his righteous life, yet he retained his humility until his final days, as symbolized by his traditional shepherd's cap depicted on icons. The saint became renowned for numerous healings, assistance to the needy, and protection from disasters. In the Orthodox tradition, prayers before this icon are offered for the resolution of housing problems, overcoming financial difficulties, healing from severe illnesses, and the strengthening of inner peace.
