Icon "St. George the Victorious" (Model 570) STL

Saint Great Martyr George the Victorious is one of the most revered Christian saints, who suffered for his faith in the 4th century under the Emperor Diocletian. The iconographic subject of the "Miracle of the Serpent", which took shape in the Early Byzantine era, allegorically reflects the victory of Christianity over paganism and the triumph of the spirit over the forces of evil. The icon captures the canonical moment of defeating the serpent with the horseman's spear, liberating the tsarevna and the city from the monster. Traditionally, prayers are offered before this image for protection from enemies, help in defending the Fatherland, granting courage in trials, as well as for healing ailments.
