Icon "Tikhvinsky Mother" (Model 933) STL

The Tikhvin Icon of the Mother of God is one of the most revered wonderworking images in Russia, belonging to the Hodigitria iconographic type. According to tradition, the prototype miraculously appeared on the banks of the Tikhvinka River in the late 14th century, specifically in 1383. The icon depicts the Virgin Mary holding the Christ Child on her left arm, with her right hand pointing toward Him as the way of salvation. A distinctive feature of this iconography is that the feet of Jesus Christ are slightly crossed, and the sole of His right foot is slightly elevated. Traditionally, believers pray before the Tikhvin image for the health and upbringing of children, as well as for healing from various ailments and protection against adversaries.
