"Igorev Icon of the Mother of God" (Model 701) STL

The Igor Icon of the Mother of God is a venerated Orthodox image historically connected to the tragic fate of Saint Prince Igor Olgovich, who was slain in Kiev in 1147. According to tradition, the prince prayed before this very icon in the Pirogoshch Diocese monastery prior to his martyrdom. Iconographically, the image combines elements of the Eleusa (Tenderness) and Hodegetria types, depicting the Virgin Mary holding the Christ Child who blesses the faithful. Believers traditionally offer prayers before this icon for spiritual fortitude during severe life trials, reconciliation in times of conflict, and protection from injustice.
