The plot of the panel dates back to ancient Greek mythology and tells the story of the Argonauts. According to legend, the young Hylas, a companion of Heracles, went in search of fresh water and was captivated and abducted by naiads — water nymphs who fell in love with his beauty. This classical antique motif was repeatedly interpreted in European and Russian academic art as an allegory of fascination with the elements and the fragility of human existence. Such allegorical reliefs are not canonical icons and do not serve a liturgical purpose, but rather act as secular decorative elements continuing the tradition of antiquity in interior decoration.
The presented 3D model in STL format is prepared for precise reproduction on CNC machines. The digital relief is optimized for subsequent wood milling, allowing the complex details of the mythological composition to be transferred to a wooden surface while preserving all proportions and plasticity of the original bas-relief.
