Panel "Holy Mother of God" (Model 753) STL

The round panel reproduces the iconographic type of the Most Holy Theotokos holding the omophorion—the holy veil symbolizing heavenly intercession and protection of mankind. The Feast of the Intercession of the Theotokos dates back to the 10th century when, according to tradition, the Virgin Mary appeared to the congregation in the Blachernae Church of Constantinople, spreading her veil over them. Traditionally, believers pray before this image for protection against adversity, strengthening of spiritual fortitude, granting of peace, and deliverance from visible and invisible enemies, relying on the ceaseless maternal intercession of the Queen of Heaven.
