The icon of the Mother of God "all mourning joy" (Model 830) STL

The icon of the Mother of God "Joy of All Who Sorrow" holds a special place in Orthodox iconography. The first veneration of this type occurred in Moscow in 1688 following the miraculous healing of Patriarch Joachim's sister. The icon depicts the Holy Theotokos surrounded by people afflicted with various sorrows and ailments, accompanied by angels performing acts of mercy at her command. The image of Christ the Saviour is traditionally placed at the top.
